The Deceptive Nature of Memory

hi Reinarto,

great article!

I don't know about your spiritual background, but I think you found a
way to describe very thoughtfully what so many masters of all kinds of
religions tried to get across:

Be here now.

Good times to you!

Love and solidarity

Those are interesting speculation and problems.  Have you read Greg Egan's novel, "Permutation City?"

See the review at http://www.santafe.edu/~shalizi/reviews/permutation-city/

Dear Reinarto,

Interesting article, I like it.  I'll post it in our research salons, with credits to you

and links to your listed contact information.  This should draw some discussion and response.

Best regards,

TIME/COMMENT

Your article on time is excellent! I believe the condition you speak of came about via agreement eons ago.

Our/this space/matter/energy universe made it necessary. Our memory is a recording

of everything we've experienced and/or agreed upon. Our willingness to consider

and accept the "agreed upon concept" of time allows us to manipulate it to a degree...

outside the constraints of agreement. Our "pre-time" existence is occluded memory wise...and yes...

deceptions did bring it about... Actual "psychics," those of us with more awareness or knowingness,

are able to "see" the "past and future" for many of the reasons you/I state...Fascinating subject!

Dear Mr. Hadipriono,

without reading the entire article you've sent to me, I can still tell I find it interesting.

However, as my suggestions go, the COJ is the journal of the Cerebrals society open to publishing

only member's works. In other words, in case you qualify for membership at present or in the future,

I will gladly publish any work of yours. I can not do it other way. I'm sure you've browsed enough

of the Cerebrals site to collect main informations on the nature of the society,

and I hope this enquiry of yours means also you are ready to join if necessary (which it is).

In case you are interesting in joining, please see the admission page of the Cerebrals site...

Thank you and have a prosperous year,

Stevan Damjanovic

The Deceptive Memory

Reinarto,

I just finished reading your mesmerizing article "The Deceptive Memory" for either the first or second time
and will be including the URL in my PAGE-NEWS which I send out to 2000 subscribers.
I would like your opinion as to whether future changes of condition presently exist or is the future
a change of condition that depends on the present. I hope I am not confusing the issues or giving undue
credibility to the present and future. Take a movie as an example. It has a predetermined sequence of frames
no matter which part we are watching. So does our holographic reality have a predetermined plot
with a beginning and ending followed my another beginning and ending ad infinitum or is it an ongoing work
in progress in which the present change of condition determines all subsequent changes?
I am now about to check out any other articles you might have written
while in some other condition.

"Deceptive Memory" article

Date:

Thu, 09 Jan 2003 04:59:35 -0600

That was the most inane, ridiculous article I've ever read. I wish I could go into
my "past" and gouge out my eyes, so that in my "future present condition"
I may be spared from wasting 10 "minutes" of "being deceived" by my "concept of present"
reading your "article". Thereby saving myself another 10 "minutes" of this "present",
"right now", writing this response to your "rambling" and "poorly thought out" "article"
which I may or may not have just read, depending on how long it took the light to reach my eyes,
and when I actually perceived it, be it in my "past", "present" or "future".

I apologize if it seems like I'm poking fun at you, but I'm simply
using the same dumbass made-up jargon to confusedly convey my thoughts on a subject
that I, also, know absolutely nothing about. Have a nice "concept of present".

From PAG E-NEWS:Vol.21; No.19; 9-25-2003

DECEPTIVE MEMORY DEPT.
I have a fuzzy recollection that I posted this entertaining article in a past issue.
But just in case I hadn't I am posting it in this present issue. And to cover all possibilities
I will also include it in a future issue. Even if "time" is an illusion this article is not
and I highly recommend it for everyone. Here is one of my favorite passages:
"Even a photograph of the past is no indication of the presence of the past, because
what is considered the past, which is immortalized by the photograph,
is a mere assumption we make at the present." And you know I resonate with
the statement that "any change of condition that we may be undergoing is
concurrently a change of condition of the universe as a whole."
---
"There is no 'past,' 'present' or 'future'! What is really happening is that we are constantly undergoing
'a change of condition.'"

The Deceptive Memory is a good examination of the human experience as

relayed to us by our senses.

The principal argument just might figure into the "self-circuits" of

conscious machines.
